Palo Duro Canyon
Last spring I went camping with my friend at a place called Palo Duro Canyon (sorry if I misspelled it). It was amazing, it was a miniature Grand Canyon. The view was georgeous and the drive to the bottom was great. I don't recommend going there in the spring, unless you are prepared to get a little cold at night, but I do recomend going to nearby Amarillo, eating some good grub, and then going Canyon Camping! I will definitely be going back! And you never know who you will bump into....we even ran into some friends of ours, who were just finishing their trip, as we were starting ours! The canyon was the scene of a decisive battle in 1874 between Comanche and Kiowa Indians and the U.S. Army troops under General Ranald Mackenzie.
