One Week In Cancun, Mexico

A November 2004 trip to Cancun by ibiza_hi

Quote: The weather was nice and warm. There was nice nightlife. People were friendly and polite. Everything was expensive compared to other Mexican cities. The beach had many large rocks under the sand, making it impossible to go swimming without endangering oneself.

One Week In Cancun, Mexico Best of IgoUgo

Overview

Quote:
You gotta visit the Coco Bongo and The City nightclubs. Also, Senor Frogs may appeal to the younger crowd. You should visit Taco Factory and try their tasty and inexpensive carnitas (pork) tacos. A visit to the Mayan pyramids is a must.

Quick Tips:

Convert your American dollars into Mexican dollars right away (use the ATM). Always remember to bargain - a half-priced deal is always good when buying souvenirs.

Best Way To Get Around:

Don't rent a car (too expensive). Take local the bus instead of taxi (they run every 5 minutes).

This is a very nice hotel with a beautiful atrium. The hotel looks like a pyramid. The luxurious villas right next to the water are highly recommended if you don't mind spending a little more. There is a gigantic pool with one of the largest pool bars in town

This is a nice romantic restaurant, with waterfalls and live piano music. Service and presentation were great, but food was average. This was not a true authentic Moroccan restaurant (they had an expansive wine list, but no Moroccan wines were on it!).

Taco Factory Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Quote:
This has the best food in Cancun! The tacos are homemade and to die for. You gotta try the carnitas (pork) tacos! Watch out for the green salsa (it's the spiciest salsa I've ever had). Best of all, most tacos cost about $1.50 (which is a great bargain compared to other restaurants in town).

Coco Bongo Best of IgoUgo

Attraction

Quote:
At first, I thought it was a dive bar. It reminded me of a larger-scale "Coyote Ugly," with waiters/waitresses dancing on the bars. But when the different "shows" started, I changed my mind. The music was great for over 5 hours!
