St John USVI Getway

A May 2005 trip to St. John by jryle0514

We had a breathtaking, amazing vacation. This island is relaxing and quiet, with much to do and explore. There were great resturants and wonderful people. We have been there three times and are going back August 19, 2005. It's one of the top places to visit!

The highlights of our trips to St John were the views, the people, and, of course, the fact that it is still US soil! The small island is warm and welcoming. It is so relaxing; it is the best de-stresser out there. Take a sunset sail, ride the donkeys, take a day trip, and explore the British and US islands nearby. Best of all, take advantage of some of the best snorkeling in the world! Lovely! Make sure you go to Woody's for the best happy hour and great food! Also, ZoZo's and the Lime Inn are great places to eat!

Quick Tips:

At the Westin Hotel, which I highly recommend, they have a welcome packet at the front desk for you. This is loaded with coupons for the Westin and other locations on the island. At the desk, they will make reservations for dinner and any other activities you would like. Also, at the Westin, they have a free shuttle back and forth to St Thomas as much as you like! It is great! Also, if you go on a resort tour for a timeshare but decline, you can go back again, with accommodations in a villa for a full week, with a sunset sail included, all for around ,000 - AMAZING!! It is worth it! We did this and are considering buying the second time around!

Best Way To Get Around:

The best way to get around is to cab it. The island is so small, you can get anywhere in minutes!

Best Things Nearby:
The Westin St John is in the middle of everything. It is surrounded by the island and tucked away in a little fraction of the island’s beauty! You really never have to leave the resort!

Best Things About the Resort:
This resort caters to everyone! It has the Westin Kids Club and on-site rentals and activities. The restaurants and bars are great, and the people are friendly. The resort is clean and beautiful, a five-star place!

Resort Experience:
The Westin St. John is paradise. You are surrounded by the most beautiful aspects of life and nature. You are pampered from the moment you get there and greeted with punch and smiles. You have to take a ferry from St Thomas to arrive here, as it is so small and quaint, there are no airports! The ferry ride is great, and you will not speak the entire time. What you see will take your breath away! Best of all, the ferry from St. Thomas to the Westin is free your entire trip. You can go back and forth all you want! The rooms are very updated and clean, and the Heavenly Beds are heaven! Try staying in a villa, which is very luxurious! The Westin St. John is the perfect place for a honeymoon!

This restaurant is so beautiful! They mainly serve seafood, but they have everything else as well, like chicken, salads, pork, ect. The food is SUPERB! It’s the best on the island!

Other restaurants I would recommend: Woody's (very casual, best happy hour); ZoZo's need reservations; Skinny Legs for burgers (yes, it’s very casual, and a great experience as well); and Chloe and Bernards at the Westin.
