"I am a gypsy at heart. Home is where I hang my toothbrush and where the cats have their commode."--Jim Qwilleran from Lillian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who Saw Ghosts.

About Me: I was born and raised in Rhode Island but lived in Idaho for 16 years. During the summer of 2008, my mother and I along with a very old dog and two protesting cats relocated to the Pensacola, Florida area to be near my sister, a Navy wife, whose husband was deployed overseas for six months in 2009 and deployed for another five months in 2010.

As for me personally, I currently work part-time in the Paint Department at Home Depot and hope to teach English as a Foreign Language in the future. This year, I fulfilled one of my places to visit on my bucket list and went to Alaska for two weeks in May. It was one of the best vacations of my life. In 2011, I hope to go back to Europe for the sixth time to visit friends in Germany and Bulgaria and seek out more of Europe's backdoor destinations. In 2012, I hope to go to see my Dad's place in Arizona and catch spring training there and maybe see a friend near San Francisco. With all of the travelling I have done in my life, I am the only family member who has not gone to California.

More About Wildcat Dianne

I travel because...
I love to learn about different places, histories, and cultures. I hate spending my days off in front of the TV getting fat stuffing myself with Cheetos, and traveling either on day trips or full-blown vacations allows me to spread my wings and get some exercise in the process. I have come home from many vacations 10 lbs. lighter from all of the walking I do on a trip.
I love to travel to...
I loved traveling to Slovakia, Austria, Germany, France, Norway, and all over the USA, and I would love to travel to Germany to see parts of the former DDR along with Scotland to see where my Scottish ancestors came from. Another dream trip would be to go back to New England, rent a car, and explore all of my childhood haunts in Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and then move on into Quebec to see where the French-Canadian side of the family came from.
I never forget to pack...
a couple of good long books to pass the time on the plane if I am travelling by plane, and I never forget my camera. In fact, I keep my camera in my purse at all times in case I see something travel related on the way to work or errands.
My weirdest travel habit is...
probably keeping my camera in my lap in the car and taking travel related pics at red lights or pulling over spontaneously to get that great shot! Drives Mom nuts when she is in the car with me!
It's my dream to travel to...
Italy, Krakow, Dresden, Copenhagen, Berlin, Alaska, Budapest, Boston, Scotland
When I'm not traveling...
I am spending time with my family or friends, knitting, and satisfying my baseball addiction by watching my beloved Boston Red Sox or other baseball teams on TV. I also love spoiling my cats Zoe and Xena, 10, and my fur nieces Mocha and Dakota, 4. As of 9 March 2010, Mom and I are the proud parents of Amanda, a year-old Labrador Retriever we adopted from the local animal shelter. Amanda has been very spoiled by us, and we are looking forward to many years of adventures around the Florida Panhandle with her.
