Quote: I spent 4 days at this resort at the end of April and really enjoyed it (and I'm very picky about the places I stay at when I travel).

The resort itself was kept extremely clean by the very friendly staff - everyone smiles and says hello. The bartenders at all three of the swim-up pool bars knew what we liked to drink by the second day and were very friendly, happy, and funny.

As for the food, I pretty much liked everything that I tried, even in the buffet restaurant which was well above average for a buffet. The Italian restaurant was my favorite, and they also have a really good Mexican restaurant - but you should know that Mexican food in Mexico is different from what we are used to here in the US, which is a very "americanized" form of Tex-Mex - rather the food at the mexican restaurant at the Park Royal is fresh and very tasty, and very artfully presented. You won't find tacos served with rice and beans, but you'll like what they offer anyway. just be sure to make reservations early in the day for the Italian or Mexican restaurants - they're not very big so they can't accomodate everyone at the resort, which is why reservations are required. Also the hamburgers at the beach grill were really good.

Although all the rooms "face" the ocean, you may want to be sure you are on the 4th floor or above if having a view of the ocean from your room is important to you - below that is Pool view. The only nagative about the rooms is the lack of typical amenities - they provide shampoo, but no conditioner, lotion, cotton balls/swabs, shower cap, etc (the kind of things you find in many other resorts), so pack some travel-sized toiletries of your own. On the other hand, they were generous with the bottled water, which many other resorts charge for.

There is no internet available in the rooms, but there is high-speed wireless internet in the comfortable lobby/breezeway, which I found to be reliable and speedy, and I rather enjoyed spending a bit of time in the mornings having a cup of coffee and checking my email while watching guests come and go.

Lastly, if you enjoy souvenir shopping, the Park Royal is only about a 5 minute cab ride from the downtown shopping district with plenty of typical souvenir shops and a few restaurants/bars, including some well known "chain" places like Senor Frog's, Margaritaville, and Carlos 'n Charlie's.

I would recommend this resort to couples looking for a nice quiet getaway or anyone who wants to dive or snorkel some nice reefs, and who likes the 'all inclusive' concept.

Quote: The Park Royal Cozumel provided just about everything to make the trip a great experience! The All-Inclusive feature was pretty impressive-the buffet food was fresh, tasty and generally varied. The alcohol options were decent although, more draft beer choices would of been nice. During the day you could help yourself to all the hamburgs, hot dogs and nachos you wanted - this did get old really fast. The hotel layout, rooms, and ambiance of the premises (stone/tile-Mayan) were very nice; iguanas and peacocks roaming the area were pretty cool. Service is exceptional - anything we requested was provided in a timely manner (we wanted the A.C. in our room lowered to a cooler temp. & it was done right away). A couple of areas for improvement: 1. The nightlife options. Every evening there was a ""show"" in the outdoor theater however, it was hokey (more for kids). A great addition would be to have LIVE MUSIC on the premises (other guests commented on this, too)! We would of loved to do some dancing to a nice Latin band, etc. The only adult nightlife option on the premises was the Sports Bar. 2. Have a pool open in the evening (past 7 pm) preferably just for adults. 3. Have one of the Infinity pools be just for adults at all times. Overall, we had an extremely relaxing vacation. The Park Royal Cozumel is a great spot, especially for families but also ok for singles and adults without children. We were adults without children and will most likely return there again!

Quote: We stayed 4 nights and 5 days at the Park Royal and had a great time. Here is a list of Pro's and Con's: Pro's: The staff was great, they were willing to help and really kept the grounds picked up. The activities during the day were fun. The rooms were very clean and the time share horror stories I read about were not true (in my case). The Con's: The beach is rocky and small. We were hoping for a big sandy beach and it's hard to find in Cozumel. The sandy beaches are located on the Gulf of Mexico side and the swimming conditions are poor on that side of the island. The food is good, not great and they had a lot of repeat items day after day (the fruit was really good though). I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a nice relaxing vacation. Cozumel doesn't have a great night life but it does provide for a good relaxing break from the daily grind. We rented scooters one day and had a great time driving around the island. They also rent cars, jeeps, dune buggies, etc... Some of the "free" beaches have a minimum purchase so be careful when you are out (San Fransisco Beach you had to spend $10 per person at the bar and grill). Overall this was a great experience and I would go back. Hope this was helpful to you.

Quote: The staff who ran the pool/kids activities were fantastic! So good at what they do! They had a daily activity board filled with fun activities to do all day....mostly ranging from sports(which my ten year old boy loved) to craft projects, nail painting and even poker lessons. Very well rounded activities for people of all ages. The nightly shows were so entertaining and a great way to end the day. I would highly recommend making dinner reservations nightly at either their Mexican or Italian restaurant, the buffett is not so great. Very clean grounds and friendly bar staff.
