Fly for free

Airmiles:

If you like going to visit other countries then you should think about collecting Airmiles. This is not the same as a frequent flyer reward and it works slightly differently as you can collect Airmiles through a number of different places. It is so simple and you don't have to do anything other than think before you shop.

I collect through Tesco as I have my club card points transferred directly so no effort needed there. If you recycle an old phone or any ink cartridges then you can also collect Tesco club card points which you can convert to Airmiles

I also buy my petrol from Shell and convert these points automatically too using my Shell pluspoints card.

If you shop on line then a number of online retailers can be accessed through the Airmiles page which also gives me Airmiles - you do have to go through the Airmiles page though so it can be tracked and there have been times when I have forgotten and have lost points. So this does takes a bit of thought prior to your purchase on line. The other annoying thing is that the points earned on Ebay purchases are not calculated on the amount you have spent but the amount Ebay deem as point worthy, so nothing for postage and less than what you pay is counted for some reason.

I also book ALL my holidays through Airmiles - even a Thomson holiday or Kuoni Trip can be booked through Airmiles by a phone call and they always get me a better price than I've already found on the internet. I always sort out exactly what i want and where I want to stay before phoning Airmiles then they quote me a price and if it is higher then I tell them I have been quoted ‘xxx’ and they ALWAYS beat the quote. Flights can also be booked through Airmiles too but if you are using Airmiles to pay for part of your flight you do not earn any miles on the amount you have to pay. So if I book one ‘free’ flight with my Airmiles I always separately book the other if I am paying as then I earn Airmiles on that one. Yesterday I booked my flight to Toronto fully paid with Airmiles but hadn’t enough for a second flight so I booked my husband’s with cash by logging in a second time and earned miles for his flight. I really just use them as my travel agent for any travel arrangements that I can.

I have earned two FREE flights to Atlanta from Birmingham in May 2009 and the best thing is that they are KLM flights so I ALSO earn KLM frequent flyer points as I am a KLM frequent flyer member. This means that I get two rewards for the same flights. I have just also booked one return flight to Toronto, as I mentioned above , for March 2010 so considering these require me to do nothing except use my credit card ( which we just pay off every month so we never pay any interest), buy my groceries from Tesco, petrol from Shell and go through the site to buy things I think it is wonderful.
