14th Street Mall

This is a window shopper's dream. The city of Denver turned 14th street into a mile and a half mall with a huge selection of stores. One end of the mall ends at the Colorado State Capital which is definetly a sight to behold and the other at the Denver Union Station. Plenty of stores from restaurants to local along the line.

The 16th Street Mall Shopping Experience

The 16th St. Mall is perhaps the one thing that seperates Denver from the other major cities in the US. A tax driven, city paid cleanup effort turned this once notorius 'bad part of town' into an ultra modern bubbling shopping district. For twelve blocks or so, the shops layer both sides of the artfully decorated and well maintained street. The free 16th St. Mall trollies run up and down this stretch stopping at every location about every 45 seconds, and runs continuosly throughout the day. Shops and restaurants are as diverse as you will ever see, with items and food for any budget. Shops include clothing, electronic, gift, book, and music stores. I recommend a number of restaurants including Willie G's (a little over priced but good steak and seafood), Rock Bottom Brewery (good micro brews and burgers) and the Hard Rock Cafe. The best burgers in Denver are of the fast food variety and are located at Meyer's & Wolf on the third floor of the Tabor Center on 16th & Larimer. The best pizza in Denver is just off the Mall on 15th and California, and is called Anthony's New York style pizza.

16th Street Mall

There's plenty of places to shop and eat at the 16th Street Mall. We visited lots of souvenier shops full of t-shirts, key chains and the like. Outside sidewalk vendors sell anything from jewelry to sunglasses. Street performers are abundant so it doesn't just mean shopping. We saw a man playing the saxophone while strolling along. Fast food chains cater to those on the go.
