Mirage Buffet (Cravings)

  • November 7, 2025
  • Rated 1 of 5 by emerald78 from N, New York

We were in Vegas in November 2005, and stayed right across the street from the Mirage at the Venetian.

We ate here for lunch - prices were $17.95 per person. Lower than some buffets on the Strip for lunch. Cravings is the name of this buffet, and it is beautiful inside. Nice booths, the chairs unfortunately are overly hard.

The selection was pretty large, with ethnically based stations. Everything was ok, but nothing was really great. It was kind of like they put tons of effort into choices, and skimped on the actual food. The gelato was really good, and available lunch and dinners. All the other food was bland.

You really ended up not eating as much as you expect to in a buffet. You spend more time hunting for something that is really good, but keep finding "uhhh it's ok" kind of food. Another reason you have to hunt for the food is because it is soooo spaciously laid out. It does not allow you to remember where everything is, because it is such a long way to get to everything. If you want a good selection, and really well thought out recipes, go to Aladdin's Spice Market Buffet. Aladdin's is more expensive, more choices, and better food. I guess sometimes it pays to pay :).

Mirage Buffet

This buffet was a wonderful array of different styles of food. You will not run out of options before you're full here. Highlights of my meal were seafood shamai, spinach wrapped in rice dumpling, sweet and sour pork, fried wonton, veggie pizza with basil, potato salad with roasted turkey, and cilantro rice. The icing on the cake were the desserts, which are the best feature of this buffet. I had tiramasu, creme brulee, coffee gelato, and white chocolate mousse, which they give you in small enough portions for you to try them all. The quality is better than the finer restaraunts in Vegas, and they have the variety of noodles, fishmongers, Asian, Italian, pizza, sushi, or raw bar that we love.

They had a good assortment with a raw bar, Asian, very good salad area where they mix the salads for you, and a grilled food area which even included New York strips that was very good and tender. Desserts were tasty, with a fair assortment of cheesecake, pies, cakes, and a gelato bar. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive with drinks.

The prices were raised for the holiday weekend, the lines were slow, and it took awhile to be seated. Not as festive in decor as some of the theme hotels. I would not go out of my way to eat here, but is handy if you are in the hotel.

Mirage Buffet

This is the biggest buffet I've ever gone to. Not only is there a mass quantity of food, but it's also of very good quality. There were a few things I avoided just by looking at them, but generally it was all very good. I had to try everything, even if it meant me not being able to walk afterwards. It was Sunday brunch, so I started with breakfast. The make-your-own omelette was excellent, with a some good filling choices. After breakfast, I started on Chinese and Japanese, then onto seafood, like peel-and-eat shrimp and crab legs. After that, I tried other miscellaneous items like Italian and Mexican. Lastly, dessert was pretty good. I never got to the salad bar, but I'm sure it's pretty good.

Mirage breakfast

We found ourselves having breakfast at the Mirage with many other guests (we were not staying at this hotel).

We were offered a choice of juice to start and a bottomless coffee pot (I chose decaffeinated). The breakfast menu was very enticing. I decided to have an omelet. I asked how many eggs were in it, thinking it would be three, but was told probably about seven or eight! I was asked to choose four fillings from a list and had ham, cheese, tomatoes, and mushrooms. My husband had the crispy smoked bacon and scrambled eggs and both our meals came with little fried potatoes. Also accompanying the meal was hot buttered toast, both white and brown, and a selection of jams. We were really stuffed and couldn't really look at food for the rest of the day.

We had a game of keno while at the table and the relaxed atmosphere was one we thoroughly enjoyed.
