Quote: The rooms at this resort were like most three-star accommodations. It was a plain, clean room with a cement floor, a wardrobe, and closet with a safe. Locks were available at the front desk for $5 a day. There was a television that got CNN and a lot of Spanish channels. There was a small table as well, with chairs. There were two small beds and a night table with two lamps. The bathroom had a double sink, large mirror, and shower and tub. All the rooms had a balcony/deck, though most didn't have deck chairs or tables. All rooms had A/C. If you are on the first floor, make sure that you lock your windows.

All-inclusive meals were filling but repetitive, and there were two reservation eateries that were very nice, but the meals were the same every night. There was nightly entertainment geared towards children. There are three pools at this resort, which is great if you want to be in a large, noisy kid’s pool or two other quiet adult only pools! The beach is large, with many chairs and vendors, as well as a sea-equipment rental hut. The kayaks and snorkel stuff is free, and boats and motorized vehicles are about $60 an hour.

Overall, we had a great vacation in an amazing location! Unlike anywhere we had been before, this place gives out free water all day and night, which is nice.

Quote: We ate at this restaurant three times. It was very nice and casual for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is a good mix of Mexican and American food. You can sit in the restaurant and be cool, or sit at the edge where there are no walls and stare out into the water or watch the boats come in. If you want to have a slow, relaxing meal, you can, and if you are in a rush, they will take care of you, too. The restaurant was very good with making alterations as well. You will leave here FULL!

Quote: Xel-Ha is the most amazing place we have ever been. As avid divers in Cayman, we weren't sure what to expect from a biological park. We took a taxi to the ferry, and from the ferry, a bus to the park, which took an hour total. Once we got there and bought our oil-free sunscreen, we had a friendly tour of the park, and then we were off on our own.

The park is in a circle, so it is easy to make your way around. Your entry fee includes 11 all-inclusive restaurants the caliber of any American theme-park restaurant. There are free bottled water depots, ice-cream depots, and mixed-drink depots all around as well. The photographers who take your photos all day do a great job. Make sure to check your photos before you leave, as we bought most of ours. Here you can go rock climbing and then jump into the ocean. You can go scuba diving, ride down the lazy river/ocean in a tube, visit with the dolphins, or just relax in the hundreds of coves they have set up for you - all included in your entry fee. You get your towels, a locker, and snorkel stuff at check-in, and it is very sad when the end of the day comes and you have to leave. There are millions of large fish. We have never seen such large, colourful fish in one place. It was well worth it. We will go back to Mexico just to visit Xel-Ha again!

Quote: This is farther than Coba or Tulum but well worth the trip. You will not believe what the Mayans were able to build with no wheel power, just their hands. We were very lucky to get a local historian as our tour guide. We left there feeling like we had completed a university-level history course on the Mayans, which I had taken before, but I never felt like I knew the history until I got there.

Make sure to wear your best walking shoes, as that is all there is too do. Pay the extra money and fly in, as the bus ride is 3 hours and there is nothing to see on the way. You want as much time as you can while you are there. There are many areas to see, and after your tour, you will want to go and explore more and climb the temple. There is a lot of additional information inside the museum that is well worth your time as well, but the ruins really are a sight to be seen.

Quote: There are so many markets and stores that it is well worth a day trip. You can walk around all day and visit the markets and shops. There aren’t many quality products to buy, but it is neat to see and get a feel for the area. We spent the morning walking around, had a long lunch, and then did a second walk, a self-guided tour onto many side streets. It was all very interesting to see.

Watch out for the scooters, but otherwise, you should be safe. There are lots of police around as well. If you can, try to go in on a day that the cruise ships aren't there, as you will have more opportunity to walk freely. There is a mall to visit, as well as many types of stores and eateries.
