For the past couple of years our number one dinning or food delivery option has been SUSHI!
Our first try had been in Sydney, Australia.
Sushi places were every where ... if you were looking for a fast meal option, the SUSHI trains would be the perfect selection for many!
We were not very fond of the idea of eating neither raw fish nor seaweed, but we were surprised by how successful our first experience had been!
Since then, every different place and destination we visit and every time we have the chance, we opt for ordering SUSHI.
This time our destination was Buenos Aires! We were staying at the Piedras Suites, and at the lobby we had been handed some broachers, one of these being the ITAMAE sushi restaurant.
We were delighted to see that they had delivery services!
As soon as we were settled and had dinner served for the kids we dialed in and ordered a 32 piece selection of salmon variations. We do like most seafood options but we usually prefer only SALMON as it is our preferred!
The delivery was a little slow … I believe we had a waiting time of a little over than an hour, but as the city is pretty large and it was weekend this was within our expected timeframe.
We are very used to ordering SUSHI and a 32 piece selection usually leaves us a little hungry.
To our surprise the selection was not only SALMON but also included some other pieces such as Octopus and Tuna.
The Nigiri (rice with fish usually draped on top) were HUGE! A large mass of rice with a very thin slice of salmon or tuna that was definitely not fresh.
The Sashimi (just the slice of fish) was incredibly THIN! And again the salmon was not fresh.
I really cant consider myself to be a SUSHI expert but after tasting so many variations at so many different places I have been able to differentiate when the fish is fresh or not.
We found it convenient to take away part of the rice from the Nigiri and place the Shashimi on top …. We duplicated the amount of Nigiris but still the taste was not that good.
The Makis were not that bad but we had only been served with a few pieces of these and the filling was again mostly rice with very small pieces of fish.
Unfortunately we were not able to finish the 32 piece selection and as we were a little disappointed we called ITAMAE in order to provide our feedback of our experience.
The person that took our call was very impolite and didn’t seem to care about our experience. He finally hang up on us.
We have heard that recently ITAMAE has opened up a restaurant in our country Uruguay. Having looked up in the internet for comments about the same we have come across similar experiences to ours.
We really do hope that they take into consideration customers comments and try to improve customer service as well as the servings as I believe it would be an interesting option to consider as their prices are ok.

I have travelled to Buenos Aires various times and have visited the Abasto Shopping Center but this was my first time i had planned on going there with the kids.
I am not too fond of combining one of my greatest pleasures (shopping) with 2 young toddlers running around, in and through every single store, but i believe this is THE place if you dare to give it a try!
The Abasto shopping Center is HUGE! You will be able to spend a whole day investigating the various brands and stores located on all 4 levels.
Getting there is very easy! I would highly recommend that the most fastest and cheapest way is by taking the underground train. You get of at the Carlos Gardel station and you will find easy directions that take you directly into the shopping.
Subways in Argentina do get easily packed during week days and it becomes even more crowded during peak hours.
During weekends its quite the opposite. I wouldnt say its dangerous but you will definately have to keep an eye on your things and not be distracted! I did get my camera stolen from me on one occassion and hadnt even realised at what point it could have happened.
Taxis are always a viable option as well and from our hotel to the shopping center it cost us approx 20 to 30 Argentinian pesos.
The best thing about this times experience was that we got the opportunity to explore and have fun at NEVERLAND!!!
Neverland is kids paradise ... on the very last floor of the shopping center you will be able to appreciate an amazing type of FUN PARK that even has a fairy wheel and a pirates boat that swings from one side to the other and brings such life to the place that you cannot even imagine! You buy a pass that will include the amount of money you want to place in it and before accessing any of these amazing games you have to pass your card along a slot that will discount the corresponding fare. Adults accomanying children will also have to pay their turn and it is really worth every penny.
One level below this fantastic fun park you have an area filled with machine games that will drive your children crazy! ... Do hold tight to your little ones as the entrance to this area is open and once leaving the same you will find a inmense foodcourt and mechanical staircases that will lead you to the other levels of the shopping center.
I was able to shop around peacefully for a couple of hours whilst my husband stayed with the children at Neverland and then when i returned it was his turn.
Nearly lost my little one at one point while i was passing the card through the slot for my eldest child and i was close to having had a heartattack. Thankfully after some long eternal minutes i was able to locate his little blond head wondering around some other children playing a bowling game.
The food court is impresive ... a large variation of plates will keep your eyes busy for quite a while!
You will not only find some fantastic argentinian brand stores such as Akiabara (for women), Paula Cahen d' Anvers (for women), Zara, Levis, 47 Street (for women), Kosiuko, Bowen (for men), Caro Cuore (for women), Cheeky (for kids), Mimo (for kids) and many others, but you will also find mega stores selling furniture, electrical appliances, music, accessories.
When you least expect it, you will realise that you have spent most of the day exploring this distinct shoppers paradise!
It turned out to be a pleasant experience after all! Read Less
