Best Things Nearby:
In the summer, once school lets out until Labor Day, Virginia Beach has "Beach Street." There is entertainment on every block from 17th to 24th street. Plus there are main stages on 17th, 24th and 13th. Over Labor Day Weekend they have the American Music Festival. We have seen 3 Dog Night, Foreigner, Joan Jett, KC and Sunshine, Average White Band, Village People, Steppenwolf, Coasters, just to name a few. The best is that most of it is free and all you have to do is get on the trolley (buy a pass) and ride to your favorite show (one after another) for four fabulous days. However, if you can't go on this particular weekend, there are other festivals that go on at other times. Go to www.vabeach.com and see what is going on.

Best Things About the Resort:
It sits right on the beach, it is kept nicely and you can watch dolphins swim buy right from your balcony. And if you can get a jet ski, you might get lucky enough to play with one! I've seen this happen on a number of occasions, but you have to be able to ride past the main hotels, don't let them trap you in a small section. Plus each room has a whirlpool and there is a indoor pool on the 4th floor and a gym and sauna on the 3rd.

Resort Experience:
If you like music, this is the place to be. If you like to relax and and watch dolphins, this is the place to be. To me, it is a MUST-SEE!

The unit was tiny and needed updating. We had a nice view of the beach, though. The balcony was nice, but the sliding door stuck badly and was difficult to open. It was cramped and cold in the entryway to the resort and the hallways with only one slow elevator. There were little or no activities.

Best Things Nearby:
40 blocks of boardwalk (cement and black top) for walking, bike riding, and roller blades, or stroll along the beautiful beach. Lots of restaurants and a dozen golf courses to choose from. Near by is the Virginia Marine Science Museum. Very educational and the kids love it.

Best Things About the Resort:
We were on the 11th floor with a great view. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, hot tub, three balconies (2 overlooking the beach and 1 overlooking the street side), 3 TVs, VCR, full kitchen, restaurant, and free use of bicycles and a free daily newspaper. On one day, the resort hosted a small function with free drinks, including wine, cheese and crackers and drew room numbers for small gifts. Best of all, no one bothered us about timeshares.

Resort Experience:
Our vacation was cut short by Hurricane Isabel. Up to that day, the weather was very nice. Every day, my wife and I rode bikes up and down the boardwalk and took long walks along the ocean. Because of the strong undertow, we couldn't swim in the ocean. The Four Sails has a swimming pool on the fourth floor. In September, Virginia Beach is very relaxing with no crowds and plenty to do.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach. . .every unit overlooks the beach and the boardwalk.

Best Things About the Resort:
Its location, unit layout. . .everything about Four Sails is a "best thing".

Resort Experience:
Four Sails is a thirteen story tower. The one-bedroom units like the one we occupied are on the end of each floor. Each has a balcony to the front, and a balcony to the rear overlooking the city of Virginia Beach. The other units on the floor are two bedroom units overlooking the beach. Our unit was well laid out and the bathroom featured a whirlpool that might pass as a water polo venue in a third world nation (i.e. big).

We were struck by the low-key, friendly nature of the place. Many of the people we met at the RCI meet-and-greet were locals (i.e. Virginians), some of whom seemed to live just down the road. Some of them owned several weeks at the resort which tells you a lot. The only problem faced by the sales rep was his lack of inventory... this resort is pretty well sold out and that should tell you something too.

There is a nice little Greek restaurant on site with some outdoor tables overlooking the beach. There is also an indoor pool, an exercise room and if you feel the need to go fishing, the pier is a short walk. Parking is on-site and it is covered.

Those are the details...the beach in front is clean and wide and the swimming is incredible. There is a nice little surf here and the dolphins will entertain you in the morning as they parade up the beach. We were fortunate enough to be there at the time of the Oceana Air Show and I thought at one point that two of the Blue Angels were going to land on the balcony.

We didn't stray far from the resort because we didn't want to. I will add, however, that should you arrive, and the drive has been long and you just want to go out for a quick bite to eat without getting back into your car, don't bother with the Atlantic Ave. restaurants to the rear. Go downstairs... if it's not open try another resort up the boardwalk. You want to see more? Try foursails

Very clean, with all necessary amenities. I would advise taking small plastic containers or baggies for leftovers as there is nothing in the unit that can be used in that way. Towels and trash are changed daily, and room is cleaned and bedding changed once a week -- they''ll do more often for a fee. One bedroom unit was right size for two people. I think it would have been too crowded with more. All units have balconies that overlook the ocean with sliding doors from the bedroom and the livingroom. Even though it was off-season and rather cool (high 40s to high 50s Farenheit), we crazy Canadians left the sliding door open the whole time and enjoyed the relaxing sound of the surf on the beach and the fresh ocean air. Very early one morning we even saw whales swimming along the shore.
