New York, London, Vegas, Paris…we all know the biggies, so we look to our members for the hidden, the unique, the less-traveled destinations—but Fort Worth? Yes, it’s all about Texas.

Fort Worth used to be little more than the cherished destination of hometown addicts like samepenny, whose 11 journals on Big D’s overshadowed little brother give it a taste of the attention it deserves, and nearby Texans like melissabowman, who has contributed 4 journals so far on Fort Worth and its immediate surrounds. Neither of these women shows any signs of slowing down, either: both just added new culinary reviews to their Fort Worth foodie tributes, Fine Food Ft. Worth and Eating in Ft. Worth. While not a local herself, fellow Southerner aviron7 was recently whisked through town by a Fort Worth friend and discovered the women who made a name for themselves the good ol’ boy way.

But just in the past month, Fort Worth territory has been invaded by newcomers from as far away as Malaysia. In the first review of her Fort Worth foray, shammiyap was content to roam the 10-block Stockyards National Historic District, complete with the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Cowtown Coliseum, and San Franciscan cr008k reminisced about a childhood trip to Fort Worth, Dallas, and Houston—during the southern June heat. It’s no wonder the long-ago vacation is still stuck in her mind.

Next up: rural Kansas?
