Olly Llamas and Machu Picchu with britgirl7

On her March trip, Peru filled britgirl7 with wonder: about how the Incas built a site as “stunning” as Machu Picchu; about how Ollantaytambo was the only place where their empire could resist attack; even about how Paddington Bear could have left such a “magical country.”

It’s a wonder to us, meanwhile, how britgirl7 can possess such a knack for choosing lovely budget hotels and quirky restaurants. She shares her consistently fabulous finds in the journal South of the Equator to Peru—her first in nearly three years and a very thorough account of her adventure. We’d happily follow in her footsteps, from trying local eats in Cusco to exploring Machu Picchu and Aguas Calientes to climbing the ruins of Ollantaytambo. (We might skip the “llama-stalking,” though the pictures are a hoot.)

With her entertaining entries, britgirl7 reminds us that, like many of you, we’ll never tire of exploring Peru.
