As anyone with a high school yearbook photo can tell you, the past has a tendency to linger. The antiquated technologies and hairstyles of today were once as relevant as the laptop you salivated over this Christmas. For two of our photographers, the equipment, clothes and traditions of bygone centuries were perfect subjects for memorable shots. Our Photos of the Week are definitely appearing on the test.
Aside from having an excellent name, the Tasmanian town of Hobart has a wharf with old-style ships. The intrepid Auskiwi took a gorgeous photo that backgrounds the endless pier. Fit for a sailor, indeed.
We all know what beefeaters are, but did you know that Denmark has its own extravagant sentries? Girlfromals captured these fine men as they patrolled the Amalienborg Palace. Now all we need is the Danish for “Tally-ho.”
