Frequent travelers know that bad weather is a pretty relative term. A blizzard that dumps three feet of fresh powder in the middle of your ski vacation is the same storm that keeps you waiting for three hours at the airport Cinnabon. That's why it’s hard for us to feel bad about a windy day -- it’s brutal in New York this morning, but other parts of the world are beautiful when the weather gets gusty. With that in mind, here are a few of those places:
- Dublin, Ireland: The capital of chilly rain, this metropolis on the Emerald Isle boasts a literary pub crawl and a trip through the Guinness Storehouse. For the ultimate in cheery visits, stop by the Kilmainhaim Jail.
- Denver, CO: The mile-high endpoint of Rocky Mountain wind is bustling with rugged energy and frontier-style charm. Pay a visit to the top-shelf Denver Zoo, or pop open a cold one at the aptly-named Coors Field.
- San Francisco, CA: If Mark Twain is right, a San Francisco summer is gusty, foggy, and cold. He is, but that doesn’t mean you should stay away -- Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge alone are worth the price of a plane ticket.
