Munich is home to Oktoberfest, the largest annual fair in the world. Over seven million liters of beer are consumed over the last weeks of September and the beginning of October, as over 5 million revelers flock to the fest’s many beer tents and food stalls.

Perched on an island in the city’s Isar River, the Deutsches Museum is the world’s largest museum of technology and science, drawing more than 1.5 million visitors a year to its 28,000 exhibit objects covering more than 50 fields of science and technology. One of the world’s best collections of Old Masters is housed in Munich’s Alte Pnakothek, while 19th and 20th century masterpieces are housed in the Neue Pinakothek and Pinakothek der Modern respectively.
