A major settlement since the 17th century B.C., Seoul boasts a wealth of historical landmarks, two of the grandest being the Changegeokgung Palace and the crown jewel of the “Five Grand Palaces”, the Gyeongbokgung Palace. Tourists flock to the palace grounds, wandering the winding paths past the innumerable outbuildings and gardens. The National Folk Museum of Korea is one of the many attractions on the ground of the Gyeongbokgung Palace grounds, charting the history of the Korean people from pre-history onwards.

Seoul is also a world-class retail mecca, with modern retail offerings aplenty at the COEX Convetion Center mall. Traditional pottery, hand-laid paper and plenty of antiques are in store in Insadong, the city’s market district, while bargain hunters flock to the offerings along Myung-dong Street.
