Quote: This is the smaller castle located at the foot of the mountain from Neuschwanstein. This was actually rebuilt and restored by Ludwig II's father King Maximillian I. This served as a summer home and hunting lodge for Bavaria's royal family. This castle was the boyhood home of Ludwig and his brother Otto. This castle offers a better view of Ludwig's life with less crowds.

Quote: A let down if you tour it AFTER Neuschwanstein, but a pretty decent primer for your visit to the aforementioned castle. This castle was restored by Ludwig IIs father in the 1830s, a castle originally built in the 12th century.
