Attraction | "A Gastronomic Feast of Manhattan."

Foods of New York Tours. We joined a group of people on a walking tour of Greenwich Village in Manhattan visiting food establishments and learning about the history of the local area of West Greenwich Village. The tour was scheduled to last three hours. On the day of our tour we met our very knowledgeable tour guide Barri in Bleeker Street at 11Am as directed in the email confirmation. The group consisted of 15 people. We were all given a bottle of water so that we would not become dehydrated in the heat of New York. It was sunny but not too hot and once everyone had arrived we set off to visit the first of several food outlets. Samples were given in each of the establishme...Read More

Gordon Ramsay at the London Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Stunning fine dining as it should be!!"

Quote:
Gordon Ramsay at the London. We went to Gordon Ramsays restaurant at ‘The London’ hotel New York. We had to sit in the bar having a cocktail prior to being called to the restaurant which is at the back of the bar area in a very exclusive dining area. There are no windows in the restaurant and it is very quiet and peaceful. The ambiance was absolutely fantastic the waiting staff were extremely attentive and unobtrusive. We ordered the prestige menu with wine pairing which compared to London prices was excellent value for money roughly about half the price we would have paid in London. There were 7 courses in all which were presented and introduced individually by the staff...Read More

Liberty Helicopter Tours Best of IgoUgo

Attraction | "See the sights of New York from above!"

Quote:
Liberty Helicopter tour of Manhattan. We had booked a flight to leave at 10:00 and took a cab down to the offices on the East river. We showed the lady our booking form but then she asked for ID.....I was mortified as I had left my Passport in the safe at the hotel not thinking that I would need it while out and about. Since 9/11 America has gone security mad and they needed some form of identification to enable us to fly. She reassured us not to worry as I could fill out a form as I had my photo driving license with me.We were then told that no belongings are allowed on the helicopters apart from a camera. You can rent a locker to store your belongings for $2.50 leaving all mobile p...Read More

Jumeirah Essex House Best of IgoUgo

Hotel | "A room with a view of Central Park."

Quote:
We stayed in the Jumeirah Essex house for a long weekend in August. The hotel is centrally located opposite Central park Southside with great views of the park from the upper floors of the hotel. It is situated close to all attractions such as Broadway and it is within easy to walk to most places especially the theatres museums shops and park. It is relatively easy to get around Manhattan from here. There is a plentiful supply of taxis and the doorman will hail one for you. It is also not too far from the subway and near bus routes. We were warmly welcomed and greeted on arrival by a doorman who dealt with our suitcases which were then brought to our room within five minut...Read More

Carnegie deli.Where.Carnegie deli can be found on 7th avenue near 55th street within sight of the Carnegie hall, in the centre of Manhattan. It has a distinctive looking shop front which stands out amongst the other shops and establishments nearby. Bright reds and yellows adorn the front of the shop.History.In the 19th century delis’ were run by German and Alsatians (Alsacian) from the Alsace region of North East France.
