In Disneyland Paris I really loved visiting the Fantasyland section of the theme park as some of my favourite Disney films and characters are the ones where Princes and Princesses feature. Usually, I would have said that Fantasyland would not appeal to boys due to the princesses and fairies associated with it, however I saw lots of boys really excited about the ‘Carousel of Lancelot’.

Now I have always been a huge fan of carousels and absolutely love them. If there is a carousel at a fair or theme park I always want to go on them. Unfortunately my fiancé usually refuses as he finds them ‘too girly.’

The Carousel of Lancelot appeals to both boys and girls due to the fact that the horses are a combination of knights horses and princess horses. Each horse is beautifully decorated with a selection of bright and glossy colours, either wearing the armour of knights’ horses, or with luscious flowers braided into their hair. There are different sizes of horses which allow both young children and adults to enjoy the ride together. Some of the horses also allow for two people to ride on together. We saw lots of parents with young babies and children doing this.

Each horse travels at a mediocre pace, meaning that the golden hand bar that travels vertically down and through the horse is more than enough to steady you on. The horses also gently rise and decline in height to give the effect of a horse galloping. Whilst the carousel is going around, Disney music is played to add an extra magical touch to this wonderful experience.

During the day the queue for the Carousel or Lancelot is usually quite short and will take approximately fifteen minutes to get on. This is definitely a big positive for the attraction of the ride as there are obviously a lot of rides around the resort where queuing for up to and over an hour is the norm. Queuing for this ride also feels a lot quicker as the queue line wraps around the carousel so that you are able to watch others on their ride and listen to the selection of music being played as the Carousel operates. There is also a beautiful bed of flowers around the whole of the carousel. At night time we found that the queuing time vastly increased. This was partly down to the fact that it was one of the few rides open until 11:30pm as many other rides by that time had closed. Also the lighting of the carousel was dazzling and made it look extremely inviting. This, in my opinion, offered a completely different experience to riding this in the daytime.

This ride is suitable for everyone and anyone although some teenagers may find it boring. I would suggest to go on this ride at night as it is a truly magical experience, however as the queue times increase dramatically during this time, ensure that you have a go on the carousel during the daytime just in case.

A great ride for all and another truly magical Disney experience.

I have always been fascinated with the flying carpet in the film so when I found out that there was a flying carpet ride in Disneyland Paris, I was obviously very excited about going on this and giving it a try. The ride is called the ‘Flying carpets over Agra bah’. This ride can be found in the Walt Disney Studios park of Disneyland Paris. It is quite far back within the park and takes about fifteen minutes to walk to from the entrance. Due to the location of some of the bigger and perhaps more thrilling rides in the Walt Disney Studios, this ride seems to get somewhat overshadowed and overlooked by many of the visitors and therefore this is a good one to go for if you are looking for a ride that you can jump on quickly and enjoy as opposed to waiting in a lengthy queue.

The flying carpets of Agra Bah is set out like a film studio with the Genie, played by Robin Williams in the film, portraying the director. As you are queuing for the ride, the voice of the genie can be heard telling everyone of the great fun they are about to experience on the ride. The set itself is visually stunning and extremely colourful, possessing lots of drapes and other features associated with this part of the world.

The queue for this ride was very short, only ten minutes in fact, and we went on this when the park was at its busiest. The ride contains sixteen ‘flying carpets’ and each of these carpets can sit up to four people, this helps the queuing time to stay short. The staff work efficiently and productively to ensure that that people enter and depart from the ride quickly. They also make sure that everyone is strapped in securely which makes you feel safe and secure and speak in many different languages, mostly European, which is of course very helpful also. We found that the majority of people also want to sit in the front of the carpet, as there are two seats in the front and two behind, so walking quickly to your carpet might be advisable so as not to disappoint.

The front and the back of the carpets both possess controls in them that allow the person riding to move the carpet both up and down and from side to side. This is another fun addition to the ride as we saw children really enjoying having the ability to control a part of the ride. My fiancé really enjoyed making our carpet fly high and then plummet down! As you fly through the sky on your magic carpet ride, music from the film is played, creating a magical experience that really makes you feel as if you are on the carpet with Aladdin and Jasmine. The fact that this ride is also quite slow, means that it is easy to take photographs whilst experiencing it, which is a nice touch.

A great ride that all of the family will enjoy a real laugh!

I would fully recommend this ride to all families with young children and couples wanting to experience a magical ride. There are no age restrictions in place either. It is accessible for wheelchair users and is a good ride for those. with visual impairments.

The first ride I went on in the Walt Disney Studios was ‘The twilight tower of terror’. I had looked at reviews about this ride and had decided that this was main ride that I wanted to go on in the Walt Disney Studios as it had fantastic reviews.

The ride is listed as a thrill seekers ride. This means that queuing times can get very long; we had to wait for 1 and a half hours to get on this ride. The queue was not too bad for us; the atmosphere in the queue was lively with the screams of the people on the ride in the background. You can get fast pass for this ride. (Fast pass is a free service provided by Disneyland Paris that enables people to skip the queue at a certain time). Many people were using the fast pass ticket for this ride but I felt that as the queue was only an hour and a half we would just wait.

The whole of the ride is set up as a 1930’s hotel. The décor is extremely authentic and adds to the excitement of the ride. I was amazed when we finally got inside of the ride building and saw that the décor was so real, including cobwebs, sofas, check in desk, bell boy trolleys and lots more. I think that the ride is not suitable for those who find it difficult to stand or walk as there are lots of stairs to walk up and it does take a long time before you get onto the ride.

The first part of the ride people dressed as bell boys and girls escort you into a library. You are literally crammed in so tight and it gets very scary when the lights go out and you are shown a video that tells the story of ‘the twilight tower of terror’. A lot of people might find this slightly claustrophobic especially when the flashing lights begin and people start to move in together. Next you are asked to follow the bell boy/girl towards a lift. Here a warning video is shown telling you to stay in your seat and keep your arms in the ride.

We didn’t realise until we sat down that we were at the front of the ride which was terrifying! The ride takes you up thirteen floors of special effects and at the top lightening strikes plunging you down the shaft floor by floor. My heart has never beaten so fast and I have never been so scared in my whole entire life. This ride is not for the faint hearted at all. Just when I thought it was all over as we had reached the bottom of the lift we were suddenly flown back up to the top and then plunged the whole way down faster than gravity! I thought I was going to die!

This ride was fantastic; although it terrified me I would love to go on it again. I don’t usually like rides that drop from a height yet I loved this ride. People who are pregnant or have heart or blood problems should not go on this ride.

Height restriction: Minimum height 1.02m.

Whilst on our long weekend to Disneyland Paris for New Years Eve, we wanted to find somewhere to eat that would be reasonably priced, decent quality and preferably all you can eat, so that we wouldn’t have to eat again whilst we were at the resort.

Prior to our departure we researched the best places to eat by looking at review sites and seeing which were the most popular and which seemed the fairest in terms of price. We saw that the Toy Story Pizza Planet had pretty good reviews from lots of people and that it was an eat all you can eat buffet style restaurant, which was exactly what we were looking for.

When we got to the park, we found that the restaurants and other places to eat were quite busy and we were worried that there wouldn’t be enough space for us in the restaurant or that there would be long waiting times to eat. We decided to take a chance at the Toy Story Pizza Planet restaurant and so we went off in search of it.

We were quite surprised to find that the entrance to Pizza Planet is quite secluded from the rest of Discovery Land, it took us quite a while to locate where we needed to go and then it was about a ten minute walk to get there. There was no queue to get into the restaurant and you had to pay before you could see the food which should have been a slight warning to us, however with no other option and with time running out we decided to eat here. Unfortunately for us as it was New Years Eve the price of the restaurant rocked sky high and we had to pay €90 between us!

When we got in to the restaurant I was shocked by how run down and unattractive the place was, it looked like a huge warehouse with hundreds of tables and chairs. The decoration was really disappointing in comparison to the rest of the park; I thought that they would have made the place look the same as ‘Pizza Planet’ in the first Toy Story film.

The food was on a few hot plates and looked very unappetising however as we had paid we had no choice but to eat here. The menu consisted of pizza, chips, spaghetti bolognaise, salad and a choice of cakes. Drink machines containing fizzy drinks was also included within the price. The food was appalling to be quite frank, the quality was poor and taste was unappetising. I would have been unhappy with the quality of the food if I had paid €10 let alone €90!

We didn’t really eat much food due to the quality but also due to the horrible environment. There were literally children running everywhere screaming. Now I don’t mind children being over excited and loud however I cannot stand children being unruly in restaurants where people are trying to eat.

The toilet facilities were clean and had plenty of toilet paper in them and there was disabled access to all of the facilities however the tables and chairs are all very crammed in so you may have trouble getting a wheelchair through them.

I would suggest that you avoid this restaurant completely unless you really have no other option, a complete waste of money.

We arrived at the Novotel Massy Palaiseau at around 8pm on January 30th and were welcomed to a really lovely place about half an hour from the Disneyland resort. The Massy Palaiseau is rated a three to four star hotel and the amenities were well worth that recommendation. As we were only bed and breakfast we did not get any dinner but there were places to eat quite nearby. As we were tired from all of the travelling we chose to have an early night and went to bed for an early rise the next morning.

The next morning we got up, had a continental breakfast and left sharp for a 9am coach trip to the Disneyland Paris resort and arrived at approximately 10am on New Year’s Eve. We could never have comprehended exactly how big Disneyland Paris was going to be and at first were certainly overwhelmed. Before we went we decided to research all of the different rides and shows that happen in Disneyland to ensure that we got to experience the parts of the resort that we wanted really wanted. This was a great idea as I'm sure we would not have known where to begin had we not done this due to the size and splendour of the resort.

We started off by visiting the Walt Disney Studios, a separate park which cost around £13 per person when we booked originally. This was also very good value for money as there are a lot of rides, shops and a few places to eat here. The turnstiles were easy to use and many members of staff were on hand to assist you as you enter the park. Unlike some other attraction parks you are allowed to take in food and drink but not chewing gum, many people had this confiscated on the way in. We decided to go on the Tower of Terror first and were not disappointed, the ride was so scary! I was quite surprised to find that you could take you bags onto most of the rides and that small children are allowed on most of the rides too, however you should check height restrictions to avoid any potential disappointment. All of the bigger rides, those with the thrill factor, also possess their own photo booths whereby one can purchase photos that are taken whilst on the ride. Each bigger ride also has its own shop that sells merchandise related to the ride.

We didn't spend too long in the Walt Disney Studios as we were so excited to go to the main Disneyland park. Walking up to the entrance of the park is actually a major experience in itself which I will never forget. The sheer grand size of everything and the authenticity of the buildings is truly remarkable and immediately one is able to relate the different buildings and parts of the park to the Disney films. Again we had to go through the turnstiles and be searched but this was no problem. In the Disneyland park there are lots of amazing rides, shops and of course the famous parades. As we went during New Years, the Christmas parades were still running which meant that it was possible for children to have pictures with Father Christmas and a Goofy version of Father Christmas.

We decided to spend our time between going on the rides and watching the parades. Some of the queue times were very long however fast pass is a fantastic added advantage and it's free! It works by giving everybody the opportunity to possess one fast pass ticket for one ride at a time. Your ticket gives you a time slot of around half an hour whereby you can cut the queue to get on the ride. This seems to work really well as it gives you the opportunity to plan around a ride that you really want to go on. You can only have one fast pass ticket at a time however. All of the rides were really enjoyable but my favourite part of the resort was amazing Sleeping Beauty Castle where the inside depicts the story of Sleeping Beauty through stain glass windows, tapestries and paintings. Under the castle is the huge dragon from the story which moves and breaths out smoke which children will love and fear!

The parades are spectacular, my Fiancé really enjoyed the Once Upon a Dream parade where all of the different Disneyland characters came out on separate floats. Both new and old Disney characters were involved in all of the parades which means that there is something for everyone. My favourite parade was the Lights Parade with the lit up castle in the background and the perfectly timed music. This happened at night time to ensure that the lights were the main attraction and all of the floats were dazzling. I would advise that you arrive approximately half an hour before the start time of each parade to get a space at the front in order to get great viewing and photo opportunities.

Food and merchandise at the park is extortionately priced. If you can, you should take your own food and drink. We ate in Pizza Planet, a restaurant themed on Toy Story, this was a buffet service. It costs a whopping €45 per person and the quality was awfully poor. The souvenirs are lovely, lots of glitter and Disney magic. We bought a beautiful photo album which everyone loved looking through and some other small gifts.

At midnight there was a brilliant firework display that occurred over the top of the stunning castle to welcome in the new year. Again you must arrive early if you want to get a good view and photos. We were very lucky and got moved to the front of the castle in the second row. It was here that my Fiancé proposed to me!

Leaving Disneyland Paris takes a long time as there are literally thousands of people all leaving the same way meaning that it is slow and sometimes painfully annoying trying to get past people and back to the coach. It is also worth noting that the entrance, which is also the exit, became extremely slippery due to it raining and I was slipping and sliding all over the place.

Disneyland Paris is definitely well worth the hype, it is magical and truly fantastic!
