We booked a city view suite at the Cambridge Suites hotel after reading various reviews on websites which praised the hotel.
We arrived three hours before their official check-in, but they still found us a room and were very friendly and helpful. You park your car yourself in the car park adjoining the hotel, there is a lift to and from the hotel.
Our room was on the 21st floor and was a very pleasant surprise. The suite was large with a workstation area as you enter with desk, office chair, fax machine and cables etc for complimentary high speed internet connection. There was a kitchenette area consisting of a sink, worktop, fridge, minibar, microwave, and coffee maker. They also supply cutlery and crockery and snacks such as popcorn, crisps, chocolate, etc. These just get added to your room bill as you use them. Another very impressive service is that they will buy in groceries for you at no extra charge. You get a shopping list to complete, hand it in to reception and they deliver the bits to your room. Another nice touch were the weather cards put under your door each evening letting you know what the weather was going to be like the next day.
The next area of the suite was the living area, which had a sofa, chair, coffee table, TV with satellite, and VCR. You then walked through to the bedroom, which can be shut off with sliding doors. The bedroom was large with king size bed, bedside cabinets, chairs, lamps, alarm clock, TV with satellite CD player with a few CDs supplied which you could buy at reception. This vanity area was very large with wardrobe, sinks, and large vanity area, which then leads into the bathroom with toilet, bath and shower. Fluffy white bathrobes are also supplied.
In the city view rooms, you can choose to have your complimentary continental breakfast delivered to your room, or you can go down to the second floor and help yourself to the buffet. You can also choose to have a hot breakfast served in the restaurant in the hotel but this is at an additional cost. We decided to go down to the buffet for breakfast most mornings as then we could have what we felt like at the time rather than pre-ordering room service. The choice consisted of cereals, toast, bagels, muffins, pastries, teas, coffee, fruit juices, yogurts etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel; it was very comfortable and had all the home comforts including a very comfortable bed and great pillows. I can definitely recommend this if you are planning a stay in Toronto. We paid CD$209 per night plus tax.
