Nice Hotel!

Quote: Universal property with good access to the parks via water taxi, walking or rickshaw. On property dining option good - low to high end dining options. Also access to Universal City Walk for additional options/night life. Lobby has plenty of seating and inviting, room was great, service was good. Because you stay on property you get a fast pass at the park which is worth it. I would definitely stay here again for Universal parks.

Wow!

Quote: I'm not an Orlando person, but I stayed at Portofino for a conference and I have to say that I was impressed. Beautiful setting (yes, in central Florida), tasteful rooms, attentive staff, amzing pool, easy park access. They did a wonderful job with the conference and I wish I'd stayed longer.

A piece of Italy in Orlando

Quote: Good service, spacious rooms, great plaza (piazza!) on the Laguna, a good choice of restaurants and a great location (if you are a Universal fan) makes this luxury hotel a good place to stay when visiting Orlando to attend a convention, rest or have fun. This is not Italy (or Portofino) and it may feel "fake" at times but if you have not been to Italy, it is the next best thing to being there. I was there for business and I thought the conference facilities (ballroom, etc..) were great. I would actually strongly recommend it if you are planning a large team meeting or convention. The staff is friendly but that is what you expect at a top end hotel.

Promise not fulfilled

Quote: This hotel was excellent as far as location and proximaty to the parks and City Walk. However, check in was awful as 1 person was attempting to check in 15 people with no help at 6 pm. The one thing that upset me is that I was promised a free City Walk party pass and was not given the pass at check in, nor was I directed how to get it. The front desk had no idea what I was talking about. Not good business travolocity!!

I Love This Hotel!

Quote: This is my favorite hotel at Universal. I live about 19 miles away but when I want a break from the kids, this is where I go. When I get to my room they have fresh fruit, flowers, a cd and a note welcoming me. A great room and perks, what more could you ask for. The only negative about this hotel for me is the long walk. After walking in the parks all day and then seeing the overflow at the ferry landings I was making that walk a lot.

Great stay

Quote: This is the second time we stayed at the hotel. Staff and food were great. Their express pass system at the park meant we never waited more than 10 minutes for any ride at the park. We had a kids suite room which was very convenient and wonderful. I would very much recommend this hotel to anyone who was visiting Universal.

Quote: My teenage daughter went here a few years ago with her friend's family and LOVED it. So the next summer we decided to take a family trip to Universal Studios and stayed at the Portofino and I have to say it was the best vacation we have ever had. My husband and I stayed at the hotel realxing while the three kids (16,14,13) did the parks. The kids love that your room key acts like a fast pass at the parks (2hour long wait cut down to less than 10minute wait for rides). Also the free boat shuttle to the parks and back is very easy and convinient ( about a 10 minute boat ride to city walk) We decided to spend a little extra money and got the deluxe room which included acess to the deluxe suite lounge..this provided us... The Portofino Bay Hotel: A Touch of Italy

Quote: The Portofino Bay Resort is Universal Orlando's signature resort. It's the place to find La Dolce Vita, or "The Sweet Life" on your Universal Orlando vacation. Themed after the Portofino Village of Italy, the multi-colored buildings set against the vast array of harbors and waterways makes for a unique experience in the middle of Florida. Located on the far edge of the property, Portofino Bay is tranquil and relaxing. While it's very much a family-friendly resort, it's the most adult-oriented of the three Universal hotels, providing a quiet respite from the non-stop action of the theme parks. There are several different categories of rooms at the Hard Rock Hotel, and all are relatively expensive for what you get. Garden View rooms are... Read More

Awesome Vacation

Quote: The hotel was wonderful. There were several restaurants at the resort and 3 beautiful pools. It was a nice relaxing time and I would definitely stay again. I would recommend the stone oven pizza at Sal's and the morning breakfast at the resort restaurant. Portifino Bay was simply a great time. We traveled there to relax for the week and spent a lot of time at the Villa Pool. There were mostly adults at this pool while the other pool entertained the little ones. There is a water shuttle to take to you to City Walk or Universal Studios. Even though we didn't do the park scene, We enjoyed City Walk for other great restaurants and things to do. TIP: I would bring my own snacks for the room. The food is a little expensive. The... Read More

Beautiful Place - Service terrible!

Quote: upon arrival bellman took luggage and disapeared! It took 4 phone calls and over 2 hours to locate luggage. Finlly at 2AM, I went to lobby and found our luggage (including laptops) siting on an unattended cart in the center of the lobby. No on ebehind the desk, or anywhere in vicinity! In the morning, housekeeping pounded on the door and insisted they MUST clean the room - even after I requested time to wake up. Charged for a pet deposit???? and no pet! Every little thing has an add on price! Pool closes early. So much for relaxing after doing the park all day! Other than that the facility was gorgeous and rooms clean and cozy.
