Quote: We booked the intercontinetal, based on other reviews, and the pictures of the hotel. We upgraded to the ocean view room, based on what we were told we would be getting at the check in desk, bigger room, balcony that we were told the other rooms did not have, ocean view, plasma t.v.. We found out the room was no bigger, and all the rooms have the same ridiculous balcony that you cannot even fit one chair on. All the people were very nice, but that was the only positive thing i can say. The restaurants were extremely overpriced, the pool was nice, but the only cleaned it once in 6 days, so it was dirty most of the trip. The drinks were double a realistic price as well - $* for a basic drink! If you insist on staying here, go to the pueblo... Read More
Quote: We are from AZ & this was our very first trip to Puerto Rico. We stayed at the InterContinental San Juan for a full week. The Hotel is VERY nice, but the staff is even NICER. The reason why we chose this hotel was because of the other reviews I read here. We don't have family in PR & we don't know people who live or are from PR, so we had to rely on other people's reviews. I also called the hotel prior to booking to ask a few questions & the staff was very courteous over the phone. When we arrived, everyone treated us like VIP. They have a lot of employees ready to attend guests' needs at any time. The pool area/beach front is beautiful & the location of the hotel is the best. We were within walking distance from nightclubs & restaurants.... Read More
Quote: The service in this hotel is one of the best in the world since Intercontinentals mains a service protocol that is second to none!If you travel to Puerto Rico, make sure you stay here in Isla Verde. The Island is full of hot travel spots, entertainment, cuisine food, local drinks and an amicable culture that is born to party and serve the visiting tourist!!Compounded with marvelous Casinos, Beaches, Malls, and Mountain views this place is next to heaven. The Hotel staff was awesome, just like the Intercontinental in Colombia, and Miami! Highly recommended!
Quote: The hotel was great. Clean, friendly and helpful staff. Top Notch all the way. The pools are incredible and you have direct access to the beach with free lounge chairs provided. Don't worry about beach towels either. The hotel provides beach towels free of charge and they are of the big and fluffy variety. The restaurants in the hotel are too expensive for my taste but there is great local food within walking distance. Try Don Jose's for dinner (out of the hotel turn left and it's about 6 blocks away) the prices are very reasonable and the food is great. Just across from the hotel in the plaza to the right is a small place call Mi Casita. It's also a great place to try the local food. There are small refrigerators in the rooms, at... Read More
Quote: The location for this Hotel is, Carolina, not San Juan. We booked the Laguna View room and there is no such thing. Their Laguna-view room is actually a City-view room. You may be able to catch a glimpse of the Laguna a few miles away!. The hotel is beautiful. The staf there is friendly. Prices are extremely expensive - not worth it. The rooms are ok; they can use a major cleaning. Not much is in the area as far as entertainment. The restaurant, Mi Casita, across the street is a great deal and the place is clean and the food is good. During our stay in May 2010, we experienced a big earthquake, 5.8. Right after it occured, I called the front desk to confirm if we had an earthquake and the woman who answered just laughed and... Read More
Quote: I just returned very sorry I had to leave the room was nice and clean. One the ladies at the tours counter was not that great she really did not seem that interested in any thing else than selling tours but every one else was fantastic. They are very helpful eager to answere any question you might have even go out of their way to find out for you if they dont have the answere. Stores restaurants and bus stops nearby you can take the bus to old San Juan for * cents or a cab for * dollars. Only two bus routes go by the hotel route A5 and C53 both take you to Old San Juan you get off at the last stop which is the terminal and you can take the same ones back. I only ate once at the pool side bar beacause like any other hotel their restaurants... Read More
Quote: Just got back. Spent 4 nights early May 2010. Rooms were ok - not what is expected of a fine resort hotel. The carpets smelled and the bathrooms were inadequate. Wouldn't stay there again. Balconies looked unsafe.
Quote: I spent Mothers Day weekend at this hotel with my Mom and sister and had a great time #40even though it rained most of the time#41. The staff was the friendliest Ive ever encountered! D at the front desk was especially helpful with whatever we needed. The weather was in the mid 80s and the ocean water was quite warm and very calm. My mother who is afraid of water even got in for awhile. Beautiful beach and pool area. I made it to the gym one day and found it very clean with a good amount of equipment. The beach cafe food was great....best Halibut weve ever had! There were 2 downsides for me about the area of Isla Verde. One was the distance to Old San Juan. It takes 45 minutes via bus. We went everyday so didnt want to spend 20 each... Read More
Quote: The Intercontinental is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the airport. Comes in handy especially if you have a limited amount of time. The staff were extremely pleasant and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. We had an ocean view which certainly enhanced our trip. The buffet breakfast was delicious and surpassed the buffet breakfast at the El San Juan. The concierge gave us some great restaurant suggestions, however the Metropol still remains one of my favorites. I look forward to returning to the Intercontinental!
Quote: I arrived at the hotel and was told my room was not ready, but they were so nice they gave me a voucher for a drink and made me feel very welcome . The hotel is lovely and the service was excellent, I really enjoyed my vacation in Puerto Rico I would do it again in a heartbeat.
