More than expected

Quote: We have stayed in many places on Freemont Street. We were a little worried because the El Cortez was on a side street. This was by far one of the best experiences we have had in downtown Vegas. All though the travel company charged us for two rooms, we were only booked in one. The El Cortez staff went above and beyond to make sure we received our 2nd room. Was extremely impressed with our room. Will definitely be staying here again.

Quote: My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. Having always stayed on the strip, at first we were taken aback by the size of the bathroom. Later we found out that we were provided a room in the oldest part of the hotel. Very soon we changed our minds and decided we loved the room because it turned out to be a few steps from the Casino. The whole hotel is very clean. Where we stayed, the furnishings was old but fabulously restored or kept up. It was like stepping back in time. The food at the restaurants was excelent and bargained priced. The entire staff was extremely cheerful, friendly and very helpful. We were surprised when a number of the staff remembered our name. We will never stay on the strip again the whole Fremont experiance just blew... Read More

Comfortable for the price

Quote: Just finished a week-long stay here. Overall comfortable and a good value. There were a few details that were bothersome, such as no coffee makers in the room and the high-speed internet was $*/day.Given that there are few wireless hot-spots in the vicinity, it became a real problem and I had to end up paying for it every day which does add up.

i would stay in the cabannas they are cute

Quote: What in the world are you negative people talking about -- cheap, clean and a great location. If you want a 5 star hotel pay for it. I get free comp rooms every 2-3 months (3 days free) And you people about smoke -- it's a casino what do you expect. This is by far the best hotel/casino for the money in downtown Las Vegas. Yes the Nugget is nicer but 3-4 times the price. Personally I hope you complainers never come back. Next time you book a room ASK about the rooms and elevators (for grandma) and when you reserve the room you'll know what your getting instead of complaining after the fact. Thank you El Cortez for the great hotel, service and comps. You'll see by the reviews 30-1 positive reviews -- some people have... Read More

What a find in Vegas

Quote: The 5th floor Pavillion non smoking room was really quiet, we had great new mattresses, clean room. Tub had a bit of rust stain around the faucet but definitely clean. This was not the new tower, it is over the parking garage, no rooms overhead. Could easily access the parking garage without getting wet or going through the casino. Two block walk to the Fremont Street experience. Really great breakfast for a reasonable, not Vegas, price. Friendly staff. Definite recommendation. Super easy access to the freeway, too. Gave us cash for free slot play and coupons for discount on meals in the casino.

Quote: We just got back Nov.10th 2009 and we loved this place. Very clean and great staff. We always stay here and really like the tower rooms. They have great comps when you use your players card. The security can't be beat. When you get into the elevator you put your room card in to get to your floor which is great. No one without a card gets anywhere.

Quote: Our room was cold. We set the thermostat on 75 and it was just blowing cold air so we just shut it off. Also the bathroom light was real touchy and kept going out.
