About Me: I've been a serious traveler since 1967 when I first went to Europe to study. Since then I've been around the world three times visiting some 80 countries thus far. I've lived, studied, or worked in Austria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. I was lucky enough to be one of the thousands of young travelers who set out overland across southern Asia from Europe to such Hippie watering holes as Kathmandu, Goa, and Kashmir. In those days -- the late 60s and early 70s -- Afghanistan was a favorite destination as well. I managed to make it overland as far as Singapore (had to fly between Calcutta and Bangkok, of course, because Burma did not -- and still does not -- allow overland transit travel across its territory.).Other ambitious trips since then have included a six-month overland run from Mexico City to Buenos Aires as well as lengthy trips to Pakistan and SE Asia.
More recent trips of note have been to South Africa (Jan. 2004; June/July 2005) and Newfoundland (Summer 2004).
