The term “off the beaten path” or “off the beaten track” means many things to many travelers. To some it is blazing a new trail through unmapped territory, to others it is staying in a hotel without a Michelin rating. Regardless of the semantics, that which is off the beaten path is certainly the road less traveled. This week, IgoUgo members showed that they are not afraid to plunge into the lesser-known.
One look at some of Scubabartek’s photos from this week’s most viewed journal will show you that it’s not so easy to get to Zakopane.
Though its capital city, Accra, is a populous one, Ghana makes no claims to be a huge tourist destination. It is for that reason that we are surprised and impressed that it made its debut as a top destination this week. Meanwhile, Costa Rica, a natural trove of wild beauty, made its third appearance as a top destination.
The IgoUgo Travel Blog helped with its own suggestions on how to get away from the rutted road, including how to get to the wilds of Alaska without a cruise ship in the week’s most read post, and also picked out some IgoUgo members who went above and beyond in their travels to complete some amazing feats.
