As a lot of our members can tell you, travel photography is art. The hastiest snapshot can stand alone beside a classical painting, provided it showcases a novel sense of aesthetics. Photographers -- including the best – have built entire careers on toying with depth and perspective. As if to drive home the point, our very own lavenderdays, on a recent trip to England, snapped a couple of tricked-out photos that make this clear by themselves. Our Photos of the Week are tripping the light fantastic.
Relaxing on the beach, you wouldn’t be surprised to find a spiral in the sand. Standing atop a staircase, however, you would, which is why this photo of Somerset House is a little unnerving for the viewer. It doesn’t help that the steps are white and the banister is the color of seawater.
