Bed bug fear has reached fever pitch. And like so many popular problems before this one, we can finally say, yes, there’s an app for that too: the new Bed Bug Alert ($1.99), now available through iTunes. For travelers concerned about the nocturnal bugs, it’s got six legs up on the competition.
The app uses information from bed bug outbreaks as reported by the media or government and pinpoints them on a GPS-enabled Google map (public places appear, private addresses do not). So, if you see a red pin on the map, you can avoid it easily. And if you’re unlucky enough to be exposed to the bugs, you can report it through the app.
Want to brush up on your bed bug identification and avoidance skill set? We just blogged about it--so give it a read.
Want to commiserate over a bed bug experience? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Hundreds of IgoUgo members have been there, too. Help out a fellow traveler, and add your experience--all the good, bad, or even ugly of it.
