Paradise, as you may have heard, is a pretty great place to visit. The sun is warm, the food is great, and the hundred little assignments waiting for you at home are over a hemisphere away. Tons of places around the world fit this description -- Russian resorts in the Caucasus, for instance, or Nassau or the Greek isle of Crete -- but Hawaii still ranks near the top. With that in mind, you’ll understand why Princess00’s journal, which details her trip to the 50th state, just had to win her a spot as Traveler of the Week. It takes a lot of effort to do any writing in Paradise, let alone as much as our explorer managed to pull off.
Ever eaten a Puka Hot Dog? According to Princess, it’s a can’t-miss specialty of little Kauai island. It’s “not your ordinary hot dog,” she says: “The relishes are made with tropical fruits - flavorful and tasty. Topped off with a garlic lemon sauce, it is the perfect combination of savory and sweet.” It’s best accompanied with a “cold glass of fresh squeezed lemonade." Obviously, reading her description made us hungry, but it also made us sad. Our lunch is just a regular hot dog.
For an experience you can see for yourself, check out her review of Jack Harter Helicopter Tours. Over a jagged coastline, she took a slew of pictures documenting the scenery, from waterfalls in a green forest to rocks so red you wonder if they’re actually Martian. She was conscientious enough to pay attention to the ride, too: if you’re prone to motion sickness, you “should strongly consider the Hughes 500 with the doors off. The cool breeze and fresh air…will reduce most, if not all, issues you may experience.”
Congratulations, Princess00, for making us daydream of Hawaii once again. If any of our readers are looking for an excuse to go, this is it.
