Where the Wild Thing Are
We woke up with heavy hearts at IgoUgo to hear of the passing of children’s author Maurice Sendak. Like many children and adults all over the world, we were inspired by his writings, especially Wild Things. We always love someone who can evoke the wild imagination of a child- and like Max, we too dream of traveling to far off places. And as much as we love to travel, just like the little boy, we always find our way back to the ones we love.
The
Rosenbach Museum and Library in Philadelphia has on ongoing exhibit to celebrate the works of Sendak, through July. Some of our members have visited this unique museum and say of it:

My favorite part of the museum was the Maurice Sendak (author of Where the Wild Things Are) gallery. Mr. Sendak visited the Rosenbach Museum often to admire the rare books and finally decided to dedicate a huge collection of his artwork to the museum. The stark white gallery is full of original artwork by the artist/author and is very inspiring. To protect the artwork, huge, thick shades featuring huge wild monsters cover the windows. Sadly, after this grand finale our tour was over.” –
