It's not news that we love a good meal. It is news what some culinary hotspots are doing to change the dining scene in some of our favorite foodie hotspots. From all corners of the world, restaurants are tickling our taste buds by making some big changes.
California cried foul over fowls and passed a law on July 1 that banned the production and sales of foie gras. Pushed by animal rights activists, the law has met some opposition from restauranteurs and foodies alike. In
San Francisco, the
Presidio Social Club has outmaneuvered the law by stating that it is housed on federal property (it's on an old military base).
The infamous Spanish lunch is dwindling do to unemployment and personal finance changes. Once a two-to-three hour staple in
Spain, the lunch allowed time to wine, dine, and unwind. Many restaurants around the country are rethinking the Spanish lunch menu as more and more people are choosing grab and go lunches or packing their own lunch to save a few euros.
Russia's attempt to revive train travel (we're already
fans) includes putting 5-star restaurants in many of the train stations across the country. The department that heads up train travel wants to recreate the barren images of Russia's train stations and by including fine dining make them a cultural experience.
