Winter is most definitely upon us (well, here in the Northern Hemisphere), which got us to thinking: where do you like to travel when it’s cold? Some destinations are more appealing when the weather turns frigid; Venice comes to mind, mostly because in the wintertime, it doesn’t smell quite so fishy.
Beyond that, there are the usual skiing spots, from Vail to Chamonix to Stowe. In many of these places, there’s plenty to do for the non-skier too (phew! we’re in that category), including dog-sledding, snow-shoeing and hiking, if those are your jam.
Finally, some cities just look better in the winter, like Prague, Stockholm and Boston. It’s hard to beat a fresh blanket of snow in these spots.

Let's not forget Alaska! Few places like it in the world, especially in the winter.

Definately not Asheville, NC. We are not used to winter being so cold and snowy. Skiing has been remarkable though. And we are getting a break in the temperatures, and a little less wind. Christmas weather was brutal.
March in Savannah, GA is amazing because of the Savannah Music Festival, one of the world's best multi-genre festival, with classical, jazz, Americana. I have a package deal that is almost sold out! https://sites.google.com/site/jazzcruises/locations/Savannah?pageUrlChanged=Savannah Plus, I agree it is less stinky too.
I would say the ice festival in Quebec City is an awesome event.
